The history of the Hotel
Since at least 3000 years people have settled in the valley called "Hachinger Tal", especially in the east side where the creek "Hachinger Bach" runs and where the fields of "Schrenkhof" had been located.
In 1934 during the construction of the highway a field of graves was found with 125 urns dating back to 1000 years BC. Then in 1980 the matching ancient farms had been discovered, and the footprints of approximately fifty wooden huts had been found.
During excavations on "Schrenkhof" fields they also discovered an old roman trader´s house (4th century AD). In the 6th century AD "Unterhaching" was populated by the tribe called "Bajuwaren". "Haching" is translated into Hacho´s people. (Hacho is an ancient men´s name.)
The oldest document found to state Haching as a village name dates back to August 8, 806, mentioning a donation to "Kloster Schäftlarn", a monastery south the "Isar" river.
HOTEL SCHRENKHOF is built on the ground of former farm house "Schrenkhof". Its history dates back to the year 1423, and certainly before that to the so called "Kirchhof" (church yard), located at the same spot. Up to 1830 almost all the time aristocrats had been the main owners of the farm.
The family "Schrenk" from "Notzing" near "Erding" was an old patrician dynasty from Munich who had mostly served as treasurers of the royal Bavarian court, owning widespread acerage. The "Palais Schrenk/Notzing" can still be visited in Munich, Max-Joseph-Straße 9.
Dating back to 1734 the bishop of "Freising" residing the monastery "Andechs" was mentioned in the documents as the owner. Later the counts of "Fugger" and council of the realm count Max of Freising were the main owners. In 1830 the farmer woman named "Darchinger" for merly occupied by the court bought the stately home "Schrenkhof" to be a "free farmer" afterwards. In 1837 the farmer´s daughter Barbara gets married to Anton Huber from Mühlhausen and in 1905 the "Huber?s" sold the farm to the order of the Blue Cross. In 1917 Mr. Eduard Durach became the new owner of "Schrenkhof", his son Hans Durach kept up the farm until his death in 1982. His grandson Dr. Herbert Durach decided to pull down the old farmhouse and build a hotel instead, known till the very day as HOTEL SCHRENKHOF, located right where the old potato hall used to be. The hotel was built and equipped in historical Bavarian and South Tyrolean style.
